Well yes can you believe that T&T Carnival 2009 just finish and already Toronto’s Caribana is rolling round the corner full steam. But doh worry, T.O.’s #1 band CNz is already deep in preparations and designing for our 2009 presentation.
Can you also believe that it has been 4 years since CNz, the self-dubbed “New Committee”, first hit the scene in T.O. back in 2005, making this our 5th Caribana? Time certainly flies… as the ole adage goes!! We have made it our mission from day one to bring something different, sexier and more exciting to Toronto’s mas landscape and we believe that your tremendous support and enthusiasm is full testament to our success as a band.
We sold out the band in 4 days last year @ Foster Pontiac, over 1,900 masqueraders in total. We sold out sections in mere minutes over the years…
Ø in 2005 “Crystal Waters” and “Rainforest” Ø in 2006 “Spain” and “Mexico” Ø in 2007 “Cotton Candy”, “Aerials” and “Acrobat”… Ø in 2008 “Shipwreck”, “Bullions & Baubles”, “Caw Caw” and “Misty Dawn”
This year we are fully aware of the economic battles we all face but also know that when is time to “jam”, “jump & wave”, “fete” and “get on”… nothing cyah stop that desire as it in we Caribbean belly and blood. The mas must go on full strength and we hope that all our loyal CNz masqueraders and also our new potential masqueraders come out to support Caribana in 2009.
So for this year CNz is taking a slightly softer approach with the production of: “IN FULL BLOOM: fruits & flowers”… truly one for the ladies. If ever there was ah mas theme for you ladies… this is the one!! Pretty, pretty, pretty for so!!!! We, the CNz band leaders, are 3 fellas… and thus naturally bias our ideas/concepts… but this year we all decided to go with a theme that instantly emanates smiles, senses of wonder and rapture… i.e. flowers & fruits!!
So on May 2nd @ the Solarium (formerly the DOCKs), come witness the transformation of ideas and concepts as they blossom into magnificent splendor in the form of exotic fruit & flower costumes like you have never seen before and displayed as only CNz can, with originality and creativity.

So it is only fitting that as Spring is in the air CNz is “IN FULL BLOOM” and we look forward to Caribana 2009… a new beginning!!
KIDDIES Carnival: LIL’Nationz Special attention and tribute must also be paid to LIL’Nationz, i.e. CNz Kiddies band which finished 2nd last year and won the Jr. King. For the first time we had a LIL’Nationz launch party at the mas camp and the band had over 400 masqueraders. Look out for information on this as we plan to “plant the seeds of Caribana” in the little ones again…
